To sum up
Musical UFO from the south of France (Lozère/Gard), Oust Louba blurs the tracks of music to prove further their identity. Far from sticking to a style, the band opens the door to a unique musical world where electro, jazz and rock and roll gather together.
The tracks flow like a story, sometimes dreamful and high, sometimes dense and energetic but in a wise use of melody and silence.
The five musicians get their creative energy from many eclectic sources so that they leave behind a taste of bold and seductive polyphony.
Robert Wyatt, King Crimson, Radiohead, DAAU, Jagga Jazzist, Cinematic Orchestra, Sayag Jazz Machine may be named without preferences or classification.
To cut it short: it’s powerful, generous and out of bounds!
At first, (2000) the band tended towards a sort of groovy and festive ska-jazz. It was welcoming but ended up unsatisfying according to the band’s artistic expectations. After two mini albums (2002, 2005), and more than a hundred concerts, the band got involved in the project of a real album closer to its artistic progress.
They signed a contract with Gazul / Musea, distributor specialised in progressive and out of charts music, and their album is now available in France and in twenty different countries (Europe, United States, Japan…)
Présentation
O.V.N.I. musical du Sud de la France, (Lozère/Gard), Oust Louba brouille les pistes pour mieux affirmer son identité. Loin de s’accrocher à un style, le groupe ouvre les portes d’un univers musical singulier où se télescopent des influences électro, rock, jazz.
Les morceaux s’enchaînent dans une quasi narration, tantôt oniriques et planants, tantôts énergiques et denses mais sachant toujours manier le mélodique et le syncopé.
Ces 5 musicien(nes) puisent dans un vivier d’influences sonores éclectiques une énergie inventive laissant un goût de « poly-gammie » séduisante et effrontée.
On peut citer sans prédominances ni préférences Robert Wyatt, King Crimson, Radiohead, DAAU, Jagga Jazzist, Cinématic Orchestra, Sayag Jazz Machine
En bref : puissant, généreux, iconoclaste !
Le groupe s'est orienté à ses débuts (2000) vers un ska jazz groovy, plutôt festif, certes chaleureux, mais qui, à la longue, s'avère ne pas correspondre aux attentes artistiques du groupe. Après 2 mini albums (2002, 2005), et plus d’une centaine de concerts, le groupe s'engage en 2006 dans un projet de premier véritable album en adéquation avec son évolution artistique.
Avec un contrat de distribution chez Gazul / Musea, spécialisé dans les musiques progressives et inclassables, l’album est disponible en France et proposé dans une vingtaine de pays (Europe, Etats-Unis, Japon,…)
présélection Languedoc Roussillon Bourges 2006 et 2007 (Caramba ! Encore raté), sélections régionales 2006 à 100 %.
